The African American Atelier is thrilled to announce the launch of the 12x12 Digital Residency, a groundbreaking year-long digital residency spotlighting African-American creativity, culture, and innovation.
Each month, one selected artist will be featured in an immersive digital spotlight designed to elevate their voice, vision, and creative practice.
We are looking for 12 African American artists based in North Carolina to take part in this inaugural residency, and you could be one of them!

November Featured Artist
Rukiya Williams
I am a self-taught multimedia artist driven by intuition, resilience, and a passion for storytelling through visual expression. My work is a reflection of lived experiences, cultural roots, and the life-changing power of creativity. Without formal training, I’ve carved my own path—learning through experimentation, observation, and a deep connection to community.
As I continue to evolve in my craft, I strive to be a trailblazer—pushing boundaries, challenging norms, and creating space for new voices in the artistic landscape. My goal is not just to make art, but to inspire, uplift, and leave a lasting impact on those who encounter it.
