I am an artist and educator that approaches my work with a level of excitement and play. I have a colorful practice that is influenced by my love for the artist collective AfriCOBRA and animation. My work explores the experience of the mundane and the idea of space through different mixtures of collage and painting. The spaces that I currently utilize are places that I find comfort in and hold memories in like my studio, my home in South Carolina, my apartment in Greensboro, among many other places. The level of play that I approach my work with allows my imagination to flow freely and explore my reality with a sense of curiosity.

I am interested in creating complex compositions that create disorienting and confusing experiences that are representative of my psychological experience being a person of color in a predominately white space. Color, shifting perspectives and scale, Trompe L'oeil and surreal elements can be seen in my paintings and all aid in this experience. I also draw from the lineage
of Mundane Afrofuturism, Cubism and Surrealism to create my work. Throughout all my work color is a major component and acts as a life force for these mundane spaces. With my work I aim to depict the complexities and nuances of life, especially the lives of people of color, and question the reality we exist in.
